I have over 11 years experience of running art clubs for all ages working in schools, housing estates, community spaces and art centres. Like many creatives, when lockdown happened I learnt how to use zoom and delivered art clubs online with my cat frequently interrupting!
Often I use recycled materials and simple materials like paper and felt tips. I try and get creative with what people will often have at home so that they feel able to make thinks without buying expensive materials!
I am currently working with Let's Make Art running Art Club in schools. I love the variety each week and seeing the students confidence develop and grow. We often end the session with a look at each others work and some positive feedback.
As well as regular clubs I deliver one-off workshops, here is a Henri Matisse collaborative collage in action!
When working as Art Teacher and Club Manager for art-K, I would end the term with reflections and a communal display of mini artworks.
Art Clubs arn't just for kids! Above are a couple of artworks by adult students, a mixed media ink and acrylic bird collage on canvas and a paper mache bird with so much character.
